Serene Resignation

The Grace and Blessings of God lie in what God Decides for His bondsmen.  Verily, He is the Strong, the Dominant, the Wise and the Knower.  Man is put to harm only by his own sins, for, God says: ‘Whatever of good befallen thee it is from Allah, and whatever of ill befalleth thee it is from thyself. (4:79)’  Therefore, it is incumbent on man to be thankful to God and praise Him ever and anon, and seek forgiveness for his sins from the cradle to the grave.  For benediction to God brings His Grace and Blessings, supplication for Divine forgiveness averts His wrath and punishment.  Whatever God ordains for His bondsman, it is always the best for him.  The Prophet (S) is reported to have said: ‘If prosperity attends a believer, he is thankful (to Allah); and if adversity befalls him, he is patient and it is good for him. [Muslim]’
